Dr. Barnett was born and raised in southern Alberta. He began post-secondary education at the University of Lethbridge majoring in Neuroscience. He went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Alberta. While at the U of A Dr. Barnett was heavily involved in research as President of the Student Research group, receiving the Student Research award at graduation. During dental school Dr. Barnett developed a passion for endodontics and pursued post graduate training in Dallas, Texas where he received his certificate in Endodontics from Texas A&M University, Baylor College of Dentistry. While at Texas A&M his research focus was microsurgical endodontics and cone beam computed tomography, publishing in academic journals.

Cole and Paige (Kreeft) have been married for almost 10 years. They've been blessed with three children that are a central focus of their life. They love southern Alberta and try to spend as much time outdoors as possible.
